PRTA is an association of Professional Retriever dog trainers, formed for the purpose of establishing and maintaining standards of professional conduct with respect to clients and to the retriever sport. Current or former members include most of the historic professional dog trainers who have contributed to what we know today about training retrievers. Our members make their living training retrievers, and agree to abide by the PRTA Code of Ethics. PRTA members train retrievers in all regions of the United States and parts of Canada. The best time to consider consulting a professional is when you are considering buying a retriever puppy or if you already own one, as soon as possible. A professional trainer can advise you on selecting the best pup to buy, to meet your retriever performance goals. A professional can instruct you on how to structure your early training sessions and many trainers now offer professional puppy training programs. |
